Forwarding response

In response to your question about Nepal tourism websites, the Nepal Tourism Board site -http://www.welcomenepal.com - is working fine and is now available in several languages. The Sustainable Tourism Network site is http://www.welcomenepal.com/stn/ . Also of interest may be the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme site (TRPAP) at http://www.welcomenepal.com/trpap .

Yeah,

I am in Nepal and personally think that these are very mediocre websites and do not have a clear message for organisations as powerful and with as much resources that they have.....but thats their problem

What would you like to see?

Many institutional websites are lackluster. We survey a number of country-specific tourism portals online

That said, what would you like to see? And do you see a way to use the Planeta Forum in particular to post news and announcements and research queries?

websites

Thanks.....

There is a technique called mind map, which can be used to effectively create websites. Country tourism portals are websites where people interested in the country should be able to gradually yet virtually get into the country, in a way that most people think....

Like the nepal website for example......important is to think how people think...what are their issues when they are comtemplating coming to Nepal....and put it accordingly into the website...a website cannot just have information...the organisation is very important...that said, I have not been able to do that effectively for my own website....but I do not have the same level of resources....

I think the forum should discuss sticky topics in ecotourism, sustainable tourism, responsible tourism and analyse real life examples....of course, announcements and promotion could be other ways of making it more useful....most operators want to benefit from this in a promotional way too....even the forum could have a section just working on promotions...moderated of course, otherwise there will be too much posts from people just wanting to put in junk promotion....but this will be a place where people can come in only if they want, and tour operators get a chance to post their promos without getting chided....of commercializing the forum and exploiting it....
