News from the 2007 Mushroom Fair in Cuajimoloyas, Oaxaca!

The date for the Seventh Annual Mushroom Fair in Cuajimoloyas, Sierra Juárez, Oaxaca has been announced: August 11-12, 2007.

Ya esta definida la fecha de la VII Feria Regional de hongos y de otros productos no maderables en Cuajimoloyas, Sierra Juárez, Oaxaca: los días 11-12 de Agosto de 2007.

The costs for visitors to the 2007 Mushroom Fair - August 11-12, 2007:
$320 for 2 days (includes Accommodation, 1 meal per day, field trip and conference)
$100 for 1 day (includes 1 meal and field trip or conference)

Costo de boletos para la Feria de Hongos 2007 - los días 11-12 de Agosto de 2007:
$320 por los dos dias (incluye hospedaje y 2 comidas, recorrido y conferencia)
$100 por un dia (incluye una comida y recorrido o conferencia)

Para los con tiempo limitado, un dia en la feria es vale la pena tambien (solamente hora y media de la ciudad de Oaxaca). Sabado: caminata y comida o Domingo: conferencias, exposición, venta de productos y comida (muestra gastronomica).

For those with limited time, one day at the fair is also worth a visit (only about an hour and a half from Oaxaca City). Saturday: mushroom walk and lunch OR Sunday: conference, products for sale, exhibition and buffet lunch.

The 2007 mushroom fair was enjoyed by a similar number of people than in 2006. On the Saturday visitors formed 9 different groups with a guide each, marveling at the mushroom variety and enjoying the forest and landscape. In spite of less rain in the critical days before the fair, more than 100 different species of mushrooms were identified. On Sunday the diverse mushroom lunch was an obvious highlight. Among those enjoying the fair was a group on an exchange visit from the Sierra Sur (San Miguel Suchixtepec).

La feria de hongos 2007 tuvo un numero de visitas similar al año anterior. El Sábado los participantes formaron 9 grupos con un guía en cada grupo, disfrutando el bosque y sus paisajes y sorprendiéndose por la diversidad de hongos. A pesar de falta de lluvia en algunos días claves antes de la feria, se identificaron mas de 100 diferentes especies. La muestra gastronómica con hongos en varios preparaciones fue lo sobresaliente del domingo. Entre los visitantes que disfrutaron la feria, estaba un grupo que intercambiaba experiencias del municipio de San Miguel Suchixtepec de la Sierra Sur.
