Heritage tourism in Banff National Park and region now has a web site! The site was created by the Banff Heritage Tourism Corporation. The Corporation helps business and organization to develop authentic heritage tourism products and programs that are attractive to visitors, but compatible with Banff's place in a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Park.

This is good news. Can you ask the webmaster of the Banff site to link back to Planeta.com? We'd be happy to establish a link from our Canada Guide.
Also of note is Holly Quan's article "Banff Heritage Tourism Strategy"

VANCOUVER -- When a conservation group and five native communities on British Columbia's central coast bought out a hunting guide's territory to promote wildlife viewing, it was billed as a shift to a new conservation economy. Tourists with cameras -- instead of hunters with high-powered rifles -- will now pay to shoot grizzly bears in the rugged fjords around Bella Coola, Ian McAllister of Raincoast Conservation Society announced yesterday. |

ANNOUNCEMENT
Planeta.com Teams Up with Tourism Educators Conference
http://www.planeta.com/planeta/08/0803canada.html
Planeta.com is proud to be a partner of the 2008 Tourism Educators Conference. "We wish the participants the very best," said Planeta.com founder Ron Mader. "We invite those in charge of the event --

http://planeta.wikispaces.com/tourismeducatorsconference -- before, during and after the event. We also encourage all of the participants to use Web 2.0 technologies including Flickr and YouTube to document the discussion. The conference agenda addresses critical topics which deserve to be discussed and acted upon in a timely manner."
Ron Mader added that Planeta.com looks forward to responding to colleagues with international interests in making the most of this event and tourism education in particular. "We are committed to using the Web as means to better educate travelers and policy-makers alike to the many lessons learned around the world," Mader said. Planeta.com has created a series of questions for delegates to respond before arriving in Whistler.
