Fox: Nation may have to pay more for water
http://www.mexiconews.com.mx/pls/impreso/noticia.html?id_nota=9950&tabla=miami

President Vicente Fox on Saturday called on Mexicans to use water responsibly and pay their bills, warning that the nation could soon confront serious shortages. In his weekly radio program "Fox Contigo" translated as "Fox With You," the president said citizens should be willing to pay more for their water if necessary, because it helps to maintain the nation's aging water utilities ... Fox added Saturday that Mexico will host the fourth World Forum on Water in March of 2006, which will bring together international water experts.

As water crisis gets bigger, some experts say smaller is better
By Mark Stevenson

Quote:
Experts throw around phrases like Integrated Water Resources Management, or IWRM, and Multi-stakeholder Processes. IWRM may sound as bad a typhoid, but most experts agree on it. It means taking into account all the effects of a dam before you build it, sizing the dam according to the needs it is to meet, and using it wisely, rather than as a big water tap installed on a river.

Multi-stakeholder process means bringing together everybody affected by ñ or benefiting from ñ a project from the planning stage. It means taking their opinions seriously, and presenting alternatives, not a take-it-or-leave-it approach.

Perhaps, experts will be able to find some smaller words to say that.

The right to water: Dialog avoided at World Water Forum - Jakarta Post
http://www.thejakartapost.com/detaileditorial.asp?fileid=20060323.E03&irec=5

Quote:
Unfortunately, instead of having a dialog, these two groups seem unable to find common ground. In parallel with the 4th World Water Forum (WWF), a group of NGOs and civil society organizations from around the globe are organizing another event, namely the International Forum in Defense of Water. For its supporters, the event is known as the "Real" World Water.

As expected, at this forum, speakers and participants from many different countries have repetitively voiced their rejection of private involvement in water provision. Even when there is a chance for dialog inside the 4th WWF, the two sides seem to avoid it.

IV Foro Mundial de Agua Crying or Very sad : Sad (
