Hi Ron,
I never heard back from the Cumbre (which I think is taking place now) in terms of tourism: it seems to be primarily about migration. Hopefully there will be a summary report issued.

I have worked with different community groups in Ecuador in community-based ecotourism and sustainable development; the primary emphasis (at least during startup phase) in these has been the use of paying volunteer programs, with projects in education, reforesting, crafts, etc. I

Volunteer programs have the potential for doing some good work, for example, in conservation, or teaching English ...
