Chris Olson has developed a lever-operated pivoting float that he believes can be useful in ocean energy trends. His company is called Swell Fuel.

NPR Correspondent John Burnett put together a package of 3 stories on renewable energy and climate change policy in Texas.

The story focused on actions by Texas mayors to put more proactive programs into place related to climate change, despite no statewide policy on the issue.

The New York Times reported on ski resorts that are striving for renewable energy "green" perks - at least giving a nod to carbon footprints despite the large SUVs that flock to them.

The British government announced plans for what would be the largest biomass plant in the world - The 350-megawatt electricity-generating plant, fueled by wood chips, will be built in the industrial town of Port Talbot, on the south Wales coast.

Printed like a newspaper directly on to aluminium foil, they are flexible, light and, if you believe the company, expected to make it as cheap to produce electricity from sunlight as from coal.

We live in exciting times. There are a lot of alternative fuels and power sources out there for everything from powering the lights in your house to the vehicle you drive down the road. In addition to our traditional gasoline and diesel fuels we now have different levels of ethanol and biodiesel; not to mention hybrids and plug in electrics.

Stirling Energy gets some attention for its solar dish technology, dating back to the 1980s, in a feature story in USA Today on Monday, January 21, 2008.

The company has plans for two 7,000 acre solar farms in California that would be the biggest in the world.

Israel was set to announce an ambitious plan to rely on electric cars. The partnership includes Renault and Nissan, and the plan would make Israel a laboratory for extensive use of electric vehicles.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved the Scenario 2 that would eventually lead to more than 18,000 megawatts of wind transmission.

The decision was part of the Competitive Renewable Energy Zone process that has been trumpeted as a model effort.
