Rate Card

FYI -- Any company that would like to advertise their maps on the Planeta website should consult our Rate Card
>> http://www.planeta.com/ecotravel/rate.html

There are a few options. Companies can pay for banner space or arrange an intercambio.

A new idea that came to me after my first browsing of the forum: To stimulate debate and exchange of opinions among forum members, how about having a new dedicated section called:

Direct link from Planeta to forum

Post by Fernando »

Dear Ron:

I think that a direct link from www.Planeta.com homepage to http://forum.planeta.com could be convenient for frequent users of the forum.

Or, in order to mantain the Guidelines and responsabilities of this page: http://www.planeta.com/worldforum.html I suggest to include in the top of this page a more visible direct link to the forum.

Regards

Un abrazo

2006 World Water Forum

Post by marlenehrenberg »

In 2006 Mexico hosts a world congress on water policy. Would it be possible to create a bilingual forum on this site to provide a space to exchange news and resources?

ecological hotel criteria/mission statements

Post by balamku »

We are a small ecological hotel in Mexico that has utilized as much as possible the resources of nature (solar and wind only) and added a composting/recyling toilet system . We are looking for a resource for Criteria for true ecological hotels that can link with us. As well, we are developing a mission statement for our place and would like to tap into other hotels which have created an ecological mission statement.
thanks for any response.

Hi Ron

As we discussed at our workshop a couple of weeks ago, I think it might be interesting to start a forum on insurance. In my mind, insurance poses the single greatest threat to our industry. Skyrocketing insurance premiums, an inability to find coverage, and more restrictions by insurance companies on tourism operations are creating tremendous burdens for tourism operators. I have heard second-hand stories of tour operators closing because their insurance premium increases were so high. Australia tackled this issue a few years back because it was affecting the health of their adventure tourism industry. Canada has been looking at alternatives e.g. an industry owned insurance company, using group purchasing power, etc. but I have not heard of any satisfactory solutions. I

Suggested new Topic - Making all tourism sustainable

Post by jsweeting »

Hi all

I would like to suggest a new topic on the forum that will allow a dialogue about the interchange / interrelationship (or lack there of) between ecotourism and mass tourism. My personal thoughts are that ecotourism is a set of principles that can be applied to the mainstream industry and that indeed the mainsream industry can sub-contract to small community-based tour companies and products...we have a long way to go in this regard and I would like to see what others thoughts ae on the issue.

Best regards

Jamie
