Rural Tourism and Migration
Great references, Antonis!
I spoke with a couple of scholars who study the effects of migration on
rural mountain areas - much of which is catalyzed by tourism. They
recommended these resources about the topic:
Buckley, R., C. Pickering, and D.B. Weaver. Nature-based Tourism,
Environment and Land Management. Massachusetts: CABI
International Publishing, 2003.
Cestero, Barbara. Beyond the Hundredth Meeting: A Field Guide to
Collaborative Conservation on the West

Rural Tourism as a Tool for Development in Mexico
RECOMMENDED READING -- Rural Tourism as a Tool for Development in Mexico - Rodrigo Esponda
The purpose of this paper is not only to contribute to the dialogue organized by planeta.com for the Rural Tourism Conference, but also, and in light of the potential it has as a development tool, to provide a case study of Mexico. Understanding that rural tourism alone cannot solve the distortions and mismanagements in underdeveloped areas; it does play a key role to increase the standard of living in certain communities and to preserve natural and cultural resources for future generations.
