Nirari Cardenas, a student of the University of Baja California, is preparing an economic valuation of the ecotourism with whale sharks in Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, in the Gulf of California (northwest Mexico).

WWF has recently published a report on the environmental risks cruise tourism poses to the arctic environment. The report addresses specifically the situation on the high-arctic archipelago of Svalbard (half way between Northern Norway and the Northpole), but findings are of interest to cruise activities in other parts of the world as well.

This is Kenneth Johnson from EcoColors in Cancun. I am a Mexican marine biologist and have been working with adventure travel and ecotourism in the last 9 years in the Maya area.

Due to our concern for biodiversity, we have been involved in several conservation projects. Currently we are working with ICRAN MAR project which educates marine recreation providers on operating their businesses with good environmental practices.
