This policy paper revise the public policies implemented in tourism during the last administrations in Mexico. On the one hand, it is said this economic activity is a national priority. Constitutional reforms and law amendments have been done to encourage travel and tourism industry growth and visitor exports rise.
Additionally, foreign direct investment and private capital participation in the sector have been liberalized. On the other hand, more reforms are needed to induce broader participation, and to urgently protect natural and cultural resources in the country.
